stub_chub 1d ago My uncle would go to the pound and ask for the next dog that was scheduled to be put down. He gave about 15 old/sick dogs a good last few months or even years. 317 Reply Absurdulon • 1d ago Your uncle rules. 98 ◇ Reply DinoGoGrrr7 • 1d ago What an awesome uncle you were blessed with!

khornflakes529 • 1d ago One of the best things we ever did was adopt a 12 year old lab. Dexter was adopted from that rescue as a puppy, then 12 years later they returned him to the rescue because they wanted to travel. I'm glad we gave him 2 years of being spoiled and a comfortable retirement, but I'll always be harboring some hate for the scum who just dumped him as an inconvenience.

bubble-tea-mouse • 1d ago Same. I adopted a 10-year-old corgi lab mix and it was the best thing I've ever done in my life. He was the most wonderful old man, so much personality, so much sass. He adored snow, and McDonald's French fries, and would throw food at me if I handed him something he didn't like, and he was abandoned for no apparent reason in great health. I will never adopt a puppy, only old man dogs forever!

blahblahblah8219 • 1d ago I truly do not understand how anyone could do that. My dogs are my family, I hate leaving them at the vet for a few hours let alone dumping them at a shelter. But clearly the best two years of his life were spent with you, because you guys are wonderful people.

nineeighteen83 • 1d ago My ex and I went to our local shelter looking to meet a couple of the pit puppies we saw on their website, fully expecting to be bringing one of them home with us. Instead we brought home a 9 year old Pomeranian and spoiled the absolute heck out of him for the last four years of his life. No ragrets, not even a single letter. Best. Dog. Ever. RIP Jake I miss you every day. Go adopt a senior dog you guys, seriously. They're the

Earth To Tee • 1d ago Upvote, not only for the We're The Millers reference, but for taking in an elderly dog. You're my kind of people. <3 My significant other & I took in a severely abused & neglected 8yo Australian Shepherd in 2023 we named Charlie. He's just in the last 6 months or so started to settle in

6 months or so started to settle in and start to play with our other dogs, and I am beside myself with joy to witness him getting to be happily part of a family, even if it's just for his sunset years. My favorite thing about him, though, is when I come home from work, he howls because he just cannot contain himself. I call him the lead singer of the band. My little Chunky Dunk. :)
